Sweden’s Tragic PKK Love

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24 caused a reevaluation of the global security environment, especially in the European continent. II. The possibility of the biggest war in Europe after World War II to spread to other countries in the continent increased security concerns, especially in non-NATO countries.

The first country to take advantage of the security guarantee enabled by NATO’s Article 5 was Finland, which shares a 1300-kilometer border with Russia. Right after that, Sweden announced its request to join NATO and ended its policy of neutrality that it had followed for nearly 200 years.

 Turkish State Objections Loudly

Turkey has followed a stance that supports the open door policy of NATO, of which it has been a member since 1952. In the post-cold war period, he also supported the joining of the former Soviet bloc countries to the alliance in 1999 and 2004. However, the Turkish State, one of the strongest members of NATO, opposed the demands of Finland and especially Sweden with justified reasons and loudly.

The fact that these two Scandinavian countries do not support Turkey’s fight against terrorism and even directly supports the YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist organization, as well as hosting members of the terrorist organization, especially Sweden’s openly providing military equipment and financial support to the terrorist organization, Turkey said. are the main reasons for the objection.

Both countries imposed an arms embargo on Turkey after the Peace Spring operation, which was carried out in northern Syria in 2019 and targeted the terrorist organization YPG. This stands out as the most important problems that make the participation of the two countries in NATO problematic for Ankara.

Another argument that Turkey brought to the agenda regarding the membership of Sweden and Finland was the processes of Greece and France, which had previously left NATO, and returned to the alliance.

Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, described Turkey’s approval of France and Greece’s applications to return to the military wing of NATO, from which they left before, as a major mistake during the cold war period, and emphasized that this mistake would not be repeated again. He underlined that he would be very careful against Sweden.

For the solution of the problem, Turkey especially asks Sweden to give up the behavior and politics that it thinks endanger its own security, to cut the military and financial support to the PKK terrorist organization and to stop hosting the members of the organization. It also demands that the arms embargo imposed on Turkey by NATO countries, especially Sweden, be lifted.

Sweden’s Stockholm Syndrome with PKK

In fact, there is an interesting but tragic relationship between Sweden and the terrorist organization PKK, which is hidden from the Swedish and world public opinion and is tried to be forgotten.

Olof Palme, one of the prime ministers of Sweden, who is fond of PKK, was assassinated on February 28, 1986, while leaving the cinema with his wife, Lisbet Palme. Oddly enough, although Sweden tries to hide it, the available evidence, statements from different sources and intelligence reports clearly reveal that the PKK terrorist organization committed this assassination.

According to the information the Swedish police received from PKK confessors, the assassination plan for Palme was decided during a meeting held in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Terrorist ringleader Öcalan gave the order for this assassination after the opposition organization members were accommodated in Sweden, as well as his request to take refuge in Sweden and move the organization’s headquarters from Syria to this country, and then this assassination took place.

This was clearly confirmed by Şemdin Sakık, one of the terrorist leaders. He also added to his statement that the PKK did not take responsibility for this assassination, fearing that it would provoke the reaction of other European countries, and that it was kept secret.

When we look at Sweden’s relationship with the PKK 36 years after Palme’s murder, Stockholm Syndrome comes to mind. The PKK, which has a lot of evidence that it was behind the assassination of Olof Palme, is protected by the Swedish state. Non-governmental organizations affiliated with the PKK operate comfortably in Sweden, Swedish media organs make propaganda for terrorists, non-governmental organizations raise money and provide financing to terrorists.

Swedish state officials continue to have close relations with the representatives of the Syrian wing of the PKK terrorist organization, the PYD/YPG.

Photographs of Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde’s meeting with PKK/YPG terrorist organization representatives are presented to the press. It is declared that Sweden provides 376 million dollars annually to the PKK/YPG.

In other words, Sweden seems to have established an emotional bond with the perpetrators with its traumatic experience in 1986. The Swedish government, which opened its country to the PKK terrorist organization, which has many evidences and statements about the murderer of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, and gives political and financial support to the PKK’s Syrian branch PYD/YPG, seems to be experiencing a new Stockholm Syndrome.

Turkey’s Rightful Demands

As a result, it is a very correct and consistent step for the State of the Republic of Turkey to openly declare that Sweden will not be accepted into NATO unless its support to the terrorist organization ends, changes in defense industry cooperation are not made and written commitments are made on these issues.

We, as the association, have sent files to all non-governmental organizations and media organizations of Sweden explaining that the terrorist organization PKK is the murderer of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, and declared that the Turkish public is aware of all that is going on and will always stand behind their state.
